GUIDED TISSUE REGENERATION

GUIDED TISSUE REGENERATION

What is guided tissue regeneration?

Guided tissue regeneration is a treatment that attempts to regenerate lost periodontal tissues. These defects could have been caused by periodontitis in the first place. However, the regeneration process does not treat the initial cause of periodontitis which is why periodontal treatment should come before guided tissue regeneration.

Guided bone regeneration is a concept attempting to regenerate the supporting bone around teeth. It usually involves ridge augmentation or bone regeneration procedures.
